In Remembrance Of

Marti Jones

Martha Ann "Marti"  (Dean) Jones, of Smithville, MO passed away, November 5, 2020.

Martha Ann (Dean) Jones, such a popular name she had to add the “Dean” back in, to help avoid any confusion. However; she always went by Marti, with an “I” and don’t dare call her Martha and least not, Marth-Ann! She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on Wednesday, September 5th, 1945 and was raised with, and survived by her sister, Eva Darlene. Her childhood was rough and very poor, and brought tears to her eyes whenever she talked about it; but living with her sister and helping to raise her two sons, Buck and Sparky were the highlights of her days. Upon graduating high school, she attended Central Missouri State College (UCM) in Warrensburg, MO where she met the love of her life, Gary Lee Jones. They were married on November 26th, 1964 and would have celebrated their 56th anniversary this month. Fortunately, they were able to celebrate and renew their vows with a formal luau wedding for their 50th anniversary with all their closest family and friends. Marti-Mom, as everyone would later call and refer to her as, always had the biggest smile in the room! She had a passion for life, for God and for her family. She saw every blank wall as a canvas to spread joy and decorate, just as she found room in her heart for every person she met. She was eccentric and flamboyant, passionate, and extraordinary and that’s what attracted everyone to her. She was such a beautiful person inside and out, and she lived life to the fullest without any regrets. She had a knack for numbers, maybe because she was born with a math equation (09×05=45), and dates and calendars in general… She lived her life to the fullest for every single one of the 27,455 days she had here on earth and is now swimming in heaven’s ocean with the mermaids and angels and singing praises with her daughter, Daphne Joy. She passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, November 5th, 2020. She will always be loved and missed by so many including her husband, Gary Lee Jones; her children, Christopher Jay Jones (Cathleen Henke), Timothy Andrew Jones, Nicholas Alexander Jones and Karisma Julinn Olson (Tony Lee Olson) and her two extremely special grandchildren, Anthony Luke Olson and Isabella Joy Marie Olson.

Memorial Service:  6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, with visitation following until 8:00 p.m.

Donations may be made to American Cancer Society or the First Christian Church.

    Dearest Jones Family ~
Sharing in sadness as you remember an extraordinary soul. I have not been in Marti’s life for many years but memories of birthday “weeks”, tacos just when you needed them, and the laughter she brought to any room is unforgettable. She will be forever in my heart, her kindness and hugs never forgotten.

Marti Jones lit up so many lives and made each day special. I’m thankful for the many celebrations at her home and making my family feel like a part of hers no matter the distance. Her children, especially Karisma keep that tradition alive by keeping friends and family close. My heart and prayers go out to you all during this time. Love from Texas and I wish I could be there to honor her in person.

It was a blessing to be in the presence of Marti, she would brighten any room with her smile and love. She told me once that a man looked his best in a colorful tie and plain white shirt, I will miss her humor and tenderness. Prayers to Gary and the kids in celebrating the beautiful Lady that I was fortunate to meet. God bless you, Scott
