Martha L. (Borgmier) Howard

Martha Lucile Howard, 90, of Smithville, MO passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012.

She was born on June 6, 1922 to Clyde Wesley and Evelyn Ruby (Swaney) Borgmier in Smithville, MO where she grew up and in 1940 graduated from Smithville High School.

On July 18, 1943 she was united in marriage to Duane R. “Tiny” Howard. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home. Martha worked alongside her husband in his auctioneering business. Tiny passed away on August 10, 2002.

Martha was a member of the First Christian Church, Smithville. She was a very devoted mother who was very involved with her children by being a room mother, Girl Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in high school and college sports.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter Joyce Howard, and one brother Albert Borgmier.

Martha is survived by one son, Dr. Richard Howard and wife Connie, Spokane, WA; two daughters, Nancy Anderson and husband Steve, Lyndon, KS, and Sue Boswell and husband Bill, Smithville, MO; grandchildren, Dr. John Anderson and wife Laura, Joe Anderson and wife Paula, Ryan Howard, Nicholas Howard and wife Haley, Carrie Cissell, Kelsey Boswell and wife Jan, and Cody Boswell; great-grandchildren, Kali and Braden Howard, Hunter, Cassidy, Rosanna, and Andrea Anderson, Shae and Kendall Cissell, Kyleigh Reid, Brooks Boswell and unborn Boswell twins; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 4^th at First Christian Church of Smithville.

Visitation: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 3^rd at the church

Burial: Smithville Memorial Cemetery
