Martha A. (Miller) Mead

Martha A. Mead, 85, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009.

She was born on May 5, 1924 to Julius Barton and Minnie Elizabeth (Purdy) Miller near Hoover, MO where she grew up. She attended a small country school in the area and graduated from Smithville High School.

On December 30, 1943 she was united in marriage to Bob Mead. After their marriage they lived in Red Oak, IA and Kansas City, MO. Her husband Bob passed away on December 29, 2005.

Martha worked as a nurse at North Kansas City Hospital for many years.

She was a member of the Red Oak Methodist Church, Red Oak, IA.

Martha was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Preston Miller; and sisters, Ada Jean Miller and Frances Jane Moore.

She is survived by her children, Brent Mead, Sunland, CA, Bruce Mead and wife, Cindy, Kansas City, MO, Rebecca Greufe and husband, Ronald, Liberty, MO, Trung Nguyen, Sunland, CA; four grandchildren, Scott, Alex and Andy Mead, and Andrea Greufe; two sisters, Mary Ellen Danielson, Independence, MO and Virginia Barton Miller, Overland Park, KS; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Graveside Inurnment: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 21^st at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithville
