MARJORIE L. SHIPPS
Marjorie L. Shipps, 74, of Lathrop, passed away, Sunday, June 4, 2006 at her home.
She was born on November 8, 1931 to Jess Harrison and Agnes L. “Lela” (Adams) Wheeler in the home at Lake Contrary. Marjorie attended Stamper Grade School.
On June 3, 1951 she was united in marriage to Corwin Ray Shipps at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church near St. Joseph. They lived in the St. Joseph, Savannah, Maysville and Gower areas moving to Plattsburg in 1987. Corwin preceded her in death on January 15, 1998. On May 8, 2005, Marjorie moved to Lathrop.
Marjorie worked at Sunset Nursing Home, Lambert Sewing Factory, Noma Lights, Westab, Boomsma’s Egg Plant, owned and operated Fairport Resturant and was a caretaker of Clinton County Sportsman Club, where she retired.
She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church and the Eagles Lodge Square Dance Club, Savannah.
Marjorie was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Arnold Shipps and three sisters, Peggy Lyon, Ruby George and Iva Angst.
She is survived by seven children, Ruby Maline and husband, Dennis, Camden Point, Brenda Hearn and husband, Tom, Mayview, MO, Ernest Shipps and wife, Lois, Junction City, KS, Margie Arning and husband, David, Nashua, MO, Peggy Sears and husband, Steve, Maryville, MO, Joy Donnelly and husband, Terry, Lathrop, and Roy Shipps and wife, Dana, Avenue City, MO, twenty-eight grandchildren, twenty-six, great-grandchildren, one sister, Alice Pemberton, Cottonwood, AZ, and one brother, Everett Wheeler, Agency, MO, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 8th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
Burial: Ebenezer Cemetery
Visitation: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
