Marjorie Faye McHenry

Marjorie Faye McHenry, 93, of Smithville, MO, passed away, Monday, September 7, 2009.

Faye was born on August 30, 1916 to Howard Ross and Naomi (Fisher) DeMasters near Platte City, Missouri. She was a graduate of Platte City High School. She was united in marriage to George Leonard McHenry on June 17, 1939. Her husband, George, preceded her in death February 4, 1986. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Shawn Matthews, and her brother, Ross Wellington DeMasters.

Before moving to Kearney in 2003, she had lived in the Smithville area most of her life. She was a longtime member of the Hoover Christian Church, near Platte City, where she was involved in the Christian Womens Fellowship and was a choir member. Among her places of employment was the former Morton’s Department Store in Smithville, Commercial Union Insurance Company, and Olstens Temp Service in Kansas City. She enjoyed growing flowers, sewing, reading and music. She also enjoyed pets and often befriended a stray dog or cat needing a home.

Faye is survived by her two daughters, Linda Sue Milligan and husband, John, Gilman City, MO, and Marilyn Kaye Matthews and husband, Dan, Smithville, MO; four granddaughters, Debbie Burke, Gwyn Cramer and husband, Lynn, Cammie Muller and husband, Steve, Shelly Kelley and husband, Chris; two grandsons, Wyatt Milligan and wife, Stacy and Scott Matthews and wife, Stephanie; eleven great-grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Burke, Lauren Cramer, Brennen and Paige Muller, Jacob and Audrie Milligan, Kyra Richardson, and Matthew, Caleb and Jesse Kelley; she also leaves a cousin, Hilda Wade, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11th at the Hoover Christian Church, near Platte City.

Burial: Platte City Cemetery

Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hoover Christian Church.
