Marion E. Harmer

Marion E. Harmer, 77, of Gower, MO passed away, Sunday, January 8, 2017.

She was born on March 14, 1939 to Gordon C. and Eleanore (Miller) Waters in Weehawkins, NJ.  Marion grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and in 1958 graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School.

On November 18, 1967 she was united in marriage to Boley Harmer.  After their marriage they lived in Pittsburgh, PA, Trimble, MO, Grayson, MO and in 1972 they moved to Gower, MO where they made their home.

Marion worked as a secretary in Pittsburgh until her marriage.  After her marriage she was a housewife for 12 years.  Marion later retired as a custodian from East Buchanan School district in 2002.  Marion and Boley also owned and operated Harmer’s General Hauling were she was the bookkeeper.

 

She was a past member of the First Baptist Church in Trimble where she served as Sunday School Secretary.  Marion was a current member First Baptist Church in Gower where she has served as the Sunday School Secretary. She was also a member of the Gower Lions Club and the Gower American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed word puzzles, bird watching, collecting stamps, growing flowers, camping, swimming and loved being with her family and friends.  

Marion was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Boley Harmer; children, Paul and Louise Harmer all of the home; sisters, Eleanore Roebuck, Pittsburgh, PA, Ruth Morgan and husband Lawrie, Australia and Ruth Waters, Gower, MO; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11th at First Baptist Church, Gower.   

Burial:  Allen Cemetery

Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Donations may be made to the church.

    Harmer Family, I'm sorry for your loss, but rejoice with you in the celebration of Marion's life and her singing with Jesus now. I remember her best as the Sunday School Coordinator at Trimble Baptist. I know she will greatly be missed. I pray for comfort for you and your family.
