In Remembrance Of

Margie Miller

Margie June (Rotert) Miller died on October 20th, 2022, at age 87 in her home in Gower, Missouri. Margie June was born to Oscar and Flossie (Batschelett) Cowan on January 15th, 1935. She was raised and lived much of her life in the Piper community, 15 miles west of Clinton, Missouri.

She graduated from Clinton High School in 1952.

She married Willard John Rotert on April 25th, 1955, and they had two daughters: Rhonda Kay and Darla Sue.

Margie was very active in church and her children’s school and 4-H activities. She enjoyed horseback riding and was a valuable partner in the family farming operation.

Following the dissolution of their 24-year marriage, Margie attended Evangel University in Springfield, MO, expanding her business and medical knowledge. She then spent her time working in a doctor’s office in Overland Park, KS, and, as a second job, worked at various Wal-Mart locations, including Overland Park, Liberty, and Belton. She also worked at the Belton Library.

In each place of work, she made many friends who enjoyed her humor, integrity, and willingness to share her Christian walk. Starting at a young age, her close relationship with her Savior helped her through many hardships in her life. Her life’s motto was “Praising the Lord for the good and not giving honor to the negative.”

In her retirement years, she married Bernard Miller, a Navy Veteran and electrical and mechanical engineer.

Her hobbies included reading, gardening, spending time with family, outings with friends, traveling, keeping up on politics and following her beloved Kansas City Royals. She also delighted in oil painting and interior design in her earlier years.

She often provided transportation to nearby seniors in need  and was a faithful friend known for always lending a helping hand, encouraging word, prayers, and a listening ear. She enjoyed shopping, eating out, and celebrating special occasions with friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Donald and Darrel, and son-in-law Mike Lawson.

She is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda Lawson (Montrose, MO) and Darla Pearcy (Gene) (Gower, MO); five grandchildren Tracy Turner, Casey Mallett-Jones (Will), Marshal Mallett, Rachel Kirkey, and Billy Kirkey III; great grandchildren Caston Mallett, Jazmon Mallett-Elliott (Glenn), Alexus Israel, Korine Turner (Koleen), Ricky Turner II and Averyk Mallett; and great-great grandchildren Kyrie and Kezly Mallett; along with many extended family and friends.

Graveside Service: 11:00 am Thursday, October 27th at White Oak Cemetery, Urich, MO.
