Margaret Marie (Ulferts) Assel
Margaret Marie Assel, 89, of Gower, MO, passed away, June 26, 2010.
She was born on July 27, 1920 to Ralph Johannes and Minnie Margareta (Ortgies) Ulferts in Anamosa, Iowa where she grew up and attended in school.
On July 17, 1942 she was united in marriage to Joseph L. Assel. After their marriage they lived in Monticello, Iowa and Kingston, Missouri. In 1960 they moved to the Gower area and in 1966 they moved to Gower where they made their home. Her husband, Joe, passed away, August 25, 2000.
She was an active member of the Gower Christian Church where she was a custodian for 34 years. Margaret loved sewing, making quilts, cooking and especially making candy.
Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Louis, Edwin, and Lawrence Ulferts.
She is survived by four sons, John Assel and wife, Cassie, Smithville, James Assel and wife, Nancy, Gower, Henry Assel and wife, Donna, Smithville, and Sam Assel and wife, Cassie, Gower; three daughters, Virginia Perkins and husband, Raymond, Gower, Ethel Deweese and husband, Ted, Wasola, MO, and Helen White and husband, Larry, Gower; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 Wednesday, June 30th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower
Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Donations to the Gower Christian Church building fund.
