Mae Barnett

Mae Barnett, 95, of Gower, MO passed away, October 12, 2024.

She was born on September 5, 1929 to Thomas LeRoy and Bessie Mae (Tyer) Genson in Starfield, MO. Mae grew up in Starfield, MO and graduated from Plattsburg High School.

On June 28, 1947 she was united in marriage to Edward Franklin Barnett. After their marriage they lived in Clinton County where they made their home. Her husband, Eddie, preceded her in death on September 17, 2008.

Mae worked as a dietician at the Gower Convalescent Center for 22 years.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Joyce Allen; son-in-law, Almus Allen; great-granddaughter, Lillyann; sisters, Louise Wattenbarger, Maxine Genson, and Anna Lee Orr; and brother, Donald Genson.

Mae is survived by her children, Diana (Bob) Vasut and Kevin (Michele) Barnett; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Megan) Vasut, Eric (Sara) Vasut, Colton (Elizebeth) Vasut, Zac (Barbara) Allen, Annie Allen, Ethan (Hallie) Barnett and Tyler (Kelli) Barnett; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Genson; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family would like to thank the Gower Convalescent Center for their exceptional care.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 15th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gower.
