Mabel Gene (Miller) Denney
Mabel Gene Denney, 89, of Smithville, MO passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 24, 1920 to Eugene William and Margaret Reynolds (Biscoe) Miller in Weston, MO. In 1939, Mabel Gene graduated from Smithville High School.
On November 23, 1939 she was united in marriage to Horace Denney. After their marriage they live in Smithville where they made their home. Her husband, Horace passed away on August 7, 1990.
Mabel Gene retired as a nursing assistant in the newborn nursery at Spelman Memorial Hospital. Her love for babies was proven through her care of newborns. Her greatest gift was getting to clean up some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren after their births.
She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Smithville. Mabel Gene was a great lady who had an abounding love of family, friends, flowers, birds, sports, and quilting. It was stated that through her love of flowers, she could sprout a broom handle. Mabel Gene was always a caregiver and great friend.
Mabel Gene was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Mabel Gene is survived by her daughters, Judy Asher and friend Bert Pierson and Margaret Fales and husband, Leroy; grandchildren, Dan and Vicki Asher, Don and Beth Asher, Denney Fales, Doug and Sissy Fales, Sara and Chip Wright and Allison and Troy Meek; great-grandchildren, Zach, Kyle, Erin, Jonathon, Linsey, Cody, Caleb, Megan, Karissa, Mason, Tres, Kaylee and Braden; great-great grandchildren, Izabella, and Zachery; four sister-in-laws; two brother-in-laws; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 21st at the First Baptist Church, Smithville
Burial: Camden Point Cemetery
Visitation: 6:00-8:30 p.m. Sunday at the church

So sorry to learn of Mabel Genes passing.
We have long admired the loyalty & friendship of Horace, Albert, Mabel Gene & Cora through the years. What an example for all of us!
We do appreciate this strong bond that has continued with Mabel Gene & Cora…..Mabel Gene will truly be missed!
