Luman “Lou” Marad Giffin

Lou Giffin, 81, of Gower, MO went to the Lord on Sunday, December 2nd with his loving wife Judy holding him and singing hymns.

He was born on November 23, 1926 to Luman Cushman and Zepha Maude (Iden) Giffin in Casper, Wyoming. The family then moved to Fortescue, Missouri where he grew up and graduated from high school. Lou then served his country with the Merchant Marine and the US Army during WW II. After his honorable discharge, Lou attended California College of Business.

On October 9, 1996 he was united in marriage to Judith Ann Selleck. After their marriage they lived in Los Angeles, California until 2001 when they move to Gower where they made their home and were blessed with a loving church family.

Lou owned and operated several business and home furnishings companies in California. After moving to Gower he was an independent broker and agent for several insurance companies.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gower and the American Legion Post 393 in Gower, where he had served as a Post Commander.

Lou loved to garden and built pieces of furniture for his Gower home. Lou also enjoyed his morning coffee with his close friends, chief among them his closest friend Weldon Allen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia Allen.

Lou is survived by his wife and soul mate Judy of the home; children, Laura Wehner and husband Zane of Lee’s Summit, Mark Giffin and wife Harriet of Los Angeles, and Sue Spuehler and husband Sean of Los Angeles; grandchildren Alyssa, Amy, Tyler and Vivian; great-grandchildren Eileen, Morgan, Katelyn, Sam and Katie; sister Shirley Kaul of Kansas City; nephew John Kaul and wife Nancy of Edgerton, Missouri; niece Lisa Vernon and husband Tom of Edgewater, Maryland, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8th at the First Baptist Church of Gower with Military Honors.

Donations may be made to the church building fund.
