Lucille (Smith) Ottinger

Lucille Ottinger, 95, of Gower, MO passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014.

 

Frances Lucille was the youngest of 10 children born on November 24, 1919 to Charles H. and Sarah M. (Rodman) Smith.  Lucille grew up in rural Buchanan County and Clinton County and graduated from Gower High School.

 

On August 24, 1942 she was united in marriage to Alfred Leo Ottinger.  For the 55 years of their marriage they lived in Gower where they made their home.  Leo passed away on January 10, 1998.

 

Lucille was a member of the Gower Christian Church.  She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed taking care of her yard and garden.

 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, six brothers Alvin, Jewell, James C., John R., Clifford D. and William Smith and three sisters Hazel Brinton, Leona Ellrick, and Opal Nicholson.

 

Lucille is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Vance Bodenhausen, Gower, MO; son and daughter-in-law Bill and Ruth Ottinger, Van Buren, AR; grandchildren Brad Bodenhausen and wife Kerry, Brooke Renton and husband Bob, Brent Bodenhausen and wife Trisha and Andy Ottinger; step-grandchildren Tim Broadaway and wife Shelly and Eric Broadaway; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 16th at Gower Christian Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Gower Christian Church AFC Building.

Burial:  Allen Cemetery, Gower

Donations: Gower Christian Church AFC.
