Lucile Holmes Harris

Lucile Holmes Harris, 95, of Gower, MO formerly of King City, passed away Sunday July 21, 2013 at the Gower Convalescent Center.

 

She was born on July 19, 1918 to William Franklin and Eugenia (Gibson) Holmes near Gower, MO where she grew up and graduated from Gower High School. 

 

On February 9, 1943 she was united in marriage to Andrew “Andy” Harris in Washington, DC while he was in the US Army.  They lived in Macomb, IL and later moved to King City, MO where they made their home.  Her husband Andy passed away on September 10, 1996.  Lucile then moved to Gower.

 

Lucile was a member of the Mt Moriah United Methodist Church, Gower and the Gower American Legion Auxiliary.    

 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, son Will David Harris in 1963; daughter Jeanna Kay Harris Lavold in 2008; infant sister Vaneta Holmes; brothers Gene Holmes, Kenneth Holmes and Henry Holmes.

 

Lucile is survived by her granddaughters, Buffy Rakoz and husband Leland and Jenni Cleary and husband Paul all of Vancouver, WA; grandson Phil Lame and wife Karen, Denver, CO; six great-grandchildren, Tanner, Meggan, Kayla, Logan, Avery and Jamie; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Saturday July 27th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home Gower, with visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial:  Allen Cemetery, Gower

Donations: Mt Moriah United Methodist Church or Allen Cemetery
