Louis Grier
LOUIS GRIER
Louis Grier, 85, of Gower, Mo., passed away, Monday, November 28, 2005.
He was born on September 24, 1920 to Allen Benton and Edith S. (Schafer) Grier near Hemple, MO, where he grew up. Louis graduated from Gower High School in 1939.
On June 7, 1947 he was united in marriage to Eileen Halter. After their marriage they lived and farmed near Gower. In 1993 they moved to Gower where they made their home.
Louis worked for the St. Joseph Livestock Exchange for 15 years, and was a substitute school bus driver for the East Buchanan School District.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Easton. Louis was a member of the Gower Lions Club and was on the East Buchanan School Board where he served as president. He was an honorary member of the East Buchanan FFA. Louis was also a member of the ASCS Board in Clinton County for many years, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Gower, and a member of the Gower Oldtimers Baseball Hall of Fame.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Homer Grier, and one sister, Susetta Clark.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of the home, one daughter, Carol Clark and husband, Tim, Columbia, MO, four sons, Bob Grier and wife, Diana, Larry Grier and wife, Regina, and Ron Grier and wife, Vicky, all of Gower, MO, and Kevin Grier and wife, Diana, St. Joseph, MO, fifteen grandchildren, Kelly, Stacy, Scott, Emilee, Garrett, Amy, Aaron, Andy, Aubrey, Abbey, Derek, Roni Dawn, Leslie, Shane and Haley, seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Emma, Lauren, Kaylee, Nathan, Alden, and Kiersten, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1st at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Easton.
Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower.
Rosary 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, with visitation following until 8:30 p.m.
Donations may be made to the Gower Lions Club.
