Lois Mary Murphy

Lois Mary Murphy, 75, of Edgerton, MO, passed away, Friday, February 20, 2009 at her home.

She was born on June 24, 1933 to Chester Scott and Opal Berniece (Bromley) Phelps near Maysville, Missouri. Lois later graduated from Smithville High School.

On February 23, 1951 she was united in marriage to Charles Preston Murphy in Smithville. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City, later moving to the Smithville and Trimble areas. In 1984 they moved to Edgerton where they made their home. Her husband, Preston, passed away, April 14, 1999.

Lois worked at Nash’s Convenient Store in Edgerton for eight years. She was very friendly, outgoing person, who never met a stranger.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Charlene Murphy Hon and one sister, Joann Baker.

Lois is survived by two sons, Vernon Murphy, Mission, Kansas and Marty Murphy, Kansas City, MO; one granddaughter, Christe Blethen and husband, Chris, Garden City, ID, five great-grandchildren, Anthony, Brittany, Cheyenne, Austin and Trevor; sister, Bertie Trosper and husband, Mitch, Ft. Scott, Kansas, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation: 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday February 24th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton, MO.

Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely, MO.
