Lois C. Carter

Lois C. Carter, 97 of Plattsburg, MO passed away, Saturday, September 22, 2018.

She was born on January 15, 1921 to William Theodore and Anna Susan (Hall) Thacker in St. Joseph, MO. Lois grew up in Gower and graduated from Gower High School. In 1941 she was united in marriage to Martin Luther Carter. After their marriage they lived in Plattsburg where they made their home. Her husband, Luther, preceded her in death on February 23, 1991.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was active in GA’s, Vacation Bible School, and was the funeral dinner chairperson for over 10 years. Lois was a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader for Bill, Cub Scout Den Mother for Eric, 4-H Leader for Donna, and Chapter Mother in FHA for Donna. She was the Secretary for the University of Missouri Extension Council in Clinton County. Lois served on the board of the Plattsburg Senior Citizens for over 13 years. She owned and operated a laundromat for many years and worked for Everett Quarries for over 15 years. After her retirement, Lois truly enjoyed hosting Friday family lunch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Virginia Perez, and brothers, Glenn Thacker, Don Thacker, Gene Thacker, and Truman Thacker.

Lois is survived by her children, Bill Carter and wife Rozanna, Marietta, GA, Donna Howard and husband Jerry, Plattsburg, MO and Eric Carter and wife Diana, Plattsburg, MO; grandchildren, Lisa Howard, Doug Howard wife Angela, Stacy Howard, Derek Carter, Shauna Bachmeier and husband Kyle, Erica Hardy and husband John, and Zoe Carter and Tony Ambriz; great-grandchildren, Nia, Miles, Faith, Eloise, and George; brother, Dwight Thacker; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 27th at First Baptist Church in Plattsburg with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Inurnment at a later date: Frazier Cemetery

Arrangements, Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
