Lois Ann (Short) Wells

Lois Ann (Short) Wells, 79, of Kansas City, MO passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022.

She was born on January 12, 1943, in Kansas City, MO. She lived most of her life in Independence, MO, Odessa, MO and most recently in Kansas City, MO. She graduated in 1960 from East High School in Kansas City, MO.

Lois spent many years working for the Independence Public Schools and retired from Children’s Mercy Hospital after 18 years. She loved spending time traveling and going to her “happy place” Fort Myers Beach, Florida. She prided herself in making a beautiful home where everyone was always welcome. She was a friend to all and never met stranger. Lois loved her family with all her heart and family was everything to her. She devoted her life to making sure her family was always taken care of. Those who knew her always felt her love and generosity.

Lois was preceded in death by her mother Connie Mae Norton Utter and son Darryl Lee Wells.

She is survived by the love of her life and best friend James R. “Jim” Wells of the home. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary in September. Lois is also survived by daughter Cheryl L. Crane (Randy Taylor) of Platte City, MO; grandson Dr. Zachary M. Downs (Annie) Parkville, MO; sister Linda K. Williams (Brian Tisch) of Independence, MO and many nieces and nephews.

 A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lois’s honor to Children’s Mercy Hospital.
