Lloyd Newman
Lloyd Allen Newman, 78, of Platte City, MO passed away, Saturday, August 24, 2013.
He was born July 8, 1935 to Claude Alvin and Neva Jane (Edwards) Newman in Ridgely, MO. Lloyd graduated from Smithville High School.
On November 8, 1968 he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Hersey. After their marriage they lived in Weatherby Lake and in 1983 they moved to Farley, MO where they made their home.
Lloyd retired as a plumber from US Engineering in 1997after almost 40 years of service and was a member of the Plumbers Union Local #8.
Lloyd was a member of the First Baptist Church in Platte City, Masonic Lodge # 504 in Platte City and Ararat Shrine Temple in Kansas City. Lloyd was a past President and current member of the Shrine Transporters Club. He was very active and supportive of all Shrine activities and was a friend to everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ralph Newman and daughter Janet Newman.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 45 years Barbara Newman; children, Gary Newman, Vicki Hylton, Glenda Farmer, Dru Applequist, and Susan Mulally; grandchildren, Jess, Afton, Stephanie (Jason), Dustin (Jessica), Shauna, Jonathan (Brandi), Lexi, and Erin; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 29th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home Smithville.
Masonic Service: 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 28th with visitation following until 8:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home
Burial: Ridgely Cemetery
For Lloyd’s final fund raiser, Donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
