Lettie Lee (Corum) Pemberton

Lettie Pemberton, 88, of Smithville, MO passed away, Friday, May 16, 2014.

 

 

 

She was born on June 10, 1925 to Thomas Henry and Edna May (Webb) Corum in Smithville, MO.  Lettie grew up in Smithville and graduated from Smithville High School.

 

 

 

On September 17, 1943 she was united in marriage to Rueben Lee Pemberton in Smithville.  After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home. Her husband, Rueben, preceded her in death on March 5, 2003.

 

 

 

Lettie was a homemaker and was a Stanley Home Products Dealer for over 20 years.

 

 

 

Lettie was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville where she devoted most of her time in the Nursery and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Boots and Bows Square Dance Club.  Lettie served as PTA president, a Girl Scout Leader, and a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She was a member of the Fidelity Rebekah Lodge for 60 years and served as Past Noble Grand.  Lettie was past President of the Women’s Missionary Union, and the Smithville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.  She was also an election judge for Clay County.

 

 

 

She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Teresa Pemberton and brother-in-law, Donald Richard Perry.

 

 

 

She is survived by her son, Danny Pemberton, Kansas City, MO, daughter, Linda Brown and husband Cliff, Colleyville, TX; four grandchildren, Candace DaSilva and husband Regis, Derek Pemberton and wife Tonja, Kira Hall and husband Kent, and Cliff Brown, Jr; seven great-grandchildren, Aurora, Chance, Cambria, Daniel, Erica, Layla, and Liliana; sister, Wilma Perry; two nephews, Dennis Perry and wife Diane, and Don Perry and wife Sharon; several great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

 

 

Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 22th at the First Baptist Church in Smithville with visitation one hour prior to the service.

 

Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

 

Burial:  Smithville Memorial Cemetery

 

 

Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church.
