Leslie Woodrow “Woody” Everett
Woody Everett, 94, of Cedar Grove, NJ, formerly of Gower and Stewartsville, passed away, Sunday, April 15, 2007.
He was born on April 4, 1913 to Leslie B. and Julia (McGaughey) Everett near Hemple, Mo., where he grew up and later graduated from Gower High School. He then served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WW II.
On October 9, 1937 he was united in marriage to R. Katheryn Cone. After their
marriage they lived in Stewartsville until 1979 when they moved to Gower. His wife, Katheryn passed away, May 24, 1983 and in 2000 Woody moved to Cedar Grove, New Jersey.
Woody owned and operated Standard Oil and later Amoco Oil Company in Stewartsville for many years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stewartsville and the American Legion Post 508 and Masonic Lodge #37 AF & AM, both in Stewartsville.
Woody was also preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Everett and sisters, Violet Poage, Georgia D. Everett, Anna Horn and Ermine Mosby.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol Jean and Jack Cafferty, Cedar Grove, NJ, two granddaughters, Leslie Katheryn Cafferty and Leigh Marie Cafferty, two step-granddaughters, Julie Shawn Klewer and Jill Shannon Matchinsky, four step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 20th, at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
BURIAL With Military Honors: Allen Cemetery, Gower.
MASONIC SERVICE: 6:30 P.M., Thursday, April 19th, at the funeral home with visitation following until 8:30 P.M.
Donations: Allen Cemetery or Mt. Zion Cemetery
