LEE DUBOIS

Lee DuBois, 90, of Edgerton, Mo., passed away, Sunday, June 26, 2005 at St. Lukes? Northland Hospital in Kansas City.

He was born on August 21, 1914 to Louis Oliver and Nina Pearl (Lee) DuBois near Smithville, Mo., where he grew up. In 1932 he graduated from Smithville High School.

On March 9, 1935 he was united in marriage to Ada May Poage. After their marriage they farmed near Edgerton, and in 1960 moved to Trimble where they made their home. Lee then started DuBois Construction, which later became DuBois and Sons Construction. His wife, Ada, passed away, January 28, 1991.

He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Lee was a charter member of the Edgerton Chamber of Commerce. He refereed basketball and football for 42 years, and in 1969 he was elected to the Amateur Athletic Union Helm?s Hall of Fame in Los Angeles for noteworthy contributions to basketball and youth of our country. Lee played semi-pro baseball for many years. He was County Commissioner for eight years and Zoning Commissioner for fifteen years in Clinton County. Lee founded the Tri-County Ambulance Service, and was a member of the Clay County Health Board. He was the Mayor of Trimble for eight years. After retirement at the age of 80, he was a lumber salesman for Major Lumber in Smithville.

Lee was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Emmett and William DuBois, and three sisters, Leona Hawkins, Bessie Miller, and Elizabeth DuBois.

He is survived by three sons, Delbert, Blue Springs, Mo., John, Edgerton, Mo., and Charles ?Cowboy?, St. Joseph, Mo., one brother, Richard DuBois, Gower, Mo., ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 29th at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Edgerton, Mo.
Burial: Reed Cemetery, Trimble, Mo.
Visitation: 6:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church, also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Donations may be made to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund.
