Leah Brooks Atkins
Leah Brooks Atkins, 99, of Smithville, passed away, October 6, 2007 at the Gower Convalescent Center.
She was born on December 16, 1907 to Emmett and Emma Adams in Clay County. She attended school in Liberty and graduated from William Jewell College in 1929. She was married to Ralph Atkins on March 14, 1935. Leah was a homemaker with a strong interest in family, music and art. She was an accomplished pianist and organist.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband of 49 years, Ralph Atkins, and her adored sister, Martha King.
Survivors include, daughter Joyce French and son-in-law, Don R. French; grandchildren, Matt and Mindi French, Smithville, Brooke French, St. Louis, MO, and Clint and Bridget French, Kansas City, MO; great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Cole, and Adelyn French, and two nephews, Phil King, Liberty, and Charles King, Smithville, and their families.
Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
Burial: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithville.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9th at the First Christian Church in Smithville, 201 Bridge St.
Contributions to the Music Dept. of the First Christian Church of Smithville are welcomed.
