Lawrence J. Stobaugh
Lawrence J. Stobaugh, 84, of Gladstone, MO, passed away, Wednesday, June 9, 2010.
He was born on May 18, 1926 to Jewell and Bernice (Smith) Stobaugh near Ridgely, Missouri where he grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Smithville High School in 1944. He then served his country in the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marines during the Korean War.
On March 20, 1948 he was united in marriage to Jane Ann Rule. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City North, and in 1967 they moved to Gladstone, where they made their home. Together the enjoyed raising their two children, and shared in the joy of five grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death on February 20, 2005 after 57 years of marriage.
Lawrence is survived by his son, Jay A. Stobaugh and wife, Dodi, Kansas City, MO, daughter, Janice K. Hetherington and husband, Alan, Blue Springs, MO; five grandchildren, Stephen, Patrick, Emma, Kyle, and Ashley; three great-grandchildren; a large extended family and many loving friends.
Funeral Service: 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Smithville Memorial Cemetery, Smithville.
Donations may be made to the Northcare Hospice or MD Foundation.
