Laurence Ray Jones

 

Laurence Ray Jones, 58, of Dearborn, MO, passed away, Sunday, August 28, 2011.

He was born on April 7, 1953 to John J. and Velma L. (Hamner) Jones in St. Joseph, Missouri. He grew up near Dearborn and graduated from North Platte High School.

On February 14, 1977 he was united in marriage to Mary Smith. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph and in 1993 moved to rural Dearborn where they made their home.

Laurence worked for Buildex near Dearborn for over 38 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. Laurence was a family man and was very devoted to his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Laurence is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; daughters, Jennifer Shanks and husband Scott; Jessica Jones and Eric Martinez; six grandchildren, Clay, Ashley, Destiny, Aaron, Aubree, and Jason; sisters, Sharlene Hart and husband Bill, Dearborn, MO, Jolene Hartman and husband John, Weston, MO, and brother, Ivan Jones and wife Shari, Dearborn, MO; and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 1st at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.

Burial: McFall Cemetery, McFall, MO.

Visitation: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

After talking with him, I believe Laurence lived his life with the attitude that we are here to help one another and we should look for ways to help each other.
