LAURENCE MCCLANAHAN
Laurence McClanahan, 75, of Gower, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007.
He was born on January 7, 1932 to Lucian B. and Mary Edith (Jones) McClanahan near Agency, MO. The family later moved to Gower and in 1949 he graduated from Gower High School. Laurence then served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he moved back to Gower.
On December 24, 1955 he was united in marriage to Frances Louise Burnett. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph, MO, Cameron, MO, Marshfield, MO, North Kansas City, MO and in 1989 moved to Gower where they made their home.
Laurence worked for Swift Packing Company in St. Joseph, the Missouri Highway Department in Marshfield, and McGinnis Trucking Company in Kansas City. After his retirement he enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Fred Dale, Clifford and Noel D.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frances of the home, son Clinton McClanahan and wife, Cyndia, Pomona, KS, daughter, Rose Allen, Kansas City, MO, three grandchildren, Melanie, Daniel and Sara, one great-granddaughter, Alexis, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 2nd at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower
Burial with Military Honors: Frazier Cemetery, Frazier, MO
Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
