Larry W. Shanks
Larry W. Shanks, 66, of Dearborn, MO passed away Friday February 1, 2019 at his daughter’s home in Cape Girardeau, MO after a lengthy illness.
Larry was born July 18, 1952 in Leavenworth Kansas to AJ and Maxine Shanks. Larry grew up in Dearborn and graduated from North Platte High School in 1970. After graduation Larry enlisted and served in the US Navy Sea Bee Corps for 6 years and then enjoyed a long career at Exxon Mobil where he retired in 2008 after 35 years of service. Larry met Debbie Buckler while attending school and was united in marriage 1972. After their marriage they lived in Dearborn where they made their home. Larry enjoyed coaching baseball and softball and truly enjoyed watching his children along with his nieces and nephews play sports. He also enjoyed watching his Chiefs and Royals.
Larry was proceeded in death by his parents; his son Mark Shanks; brother Bill Shanks and brothers in-law Steve Buckler and Ray Buckler.
Larry is survived by his wife Debbie Shanks of the home; daughter Gloria and wife Carrie Cape Girardeau, MO; grandson Nathan (Nikki) Bellmyer, Oak Ridge, MO; great grandchildren – Shayne, Serena, Emmitt; brothers Floyd Shanks and Gail (Sandy) Shanks all of Dearborn. He is also survived by his father-in law and friend Truman Lee Buckler, Dearborn; sister-in-law Vickie Buckler, Dearborn; brother-in-law Lonnie Buckler, Camden Point, MO; dear friend Ronnie and Anna Wren along with several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Dearborn Cemetery c/o of Platte Valley Bank.
Inurnment will be held at future date and time at Dearborn Cemetery
