LaMera (Gibson) Lowman
LaMera Gibson Lowman, 100, of Smithville, MO, passed away, Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at her home.
She was born on November 11, 1907 to George and Lessie (Corington) Gibson near Gower. LaMera attended No. 6 Grade School near Gower, Trimble Grade School, Edgerton High School and later graduated from Smithville High School in 1926.
On January 26, 1929 she was united in marriage to Scott Lowman. They lived and farmed in the Smithville area. Scott, passed away, on February 6, 1974.
During the years 1948-1978, LaMera owned and operated Lowman’s Paint and Wallpaper and Gifts and Lowman’s Boutique. In her early nineties she made pies at Lowman’s Café. LaMera enjoyed quilting and other needlework.
She was a member of the Mt. Olivet Christian Church for over 79 years. LaMera was also a member of the Sunnyside Circle and the Alpha Club.
LaMera was also preceded in death by her parents, and son-in-law, Jon Wohlford.
She is survived by three children, Rachel Chrisman and husband, George, Lee’s Summit, MO, Rebecca Wohlford, Trimble, MO, and George Lowman, Smithville, MO; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Service: 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville., with visitation following the service.
Private Inurnment at a later date at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithville.
Donations may be made to the Mt. Olivet Christian Church, Smithville, Mo.
