Kenneth Kirk Griffin

Kenneth Kirk Griffin, 72, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away February 24, 2014.

 

He was born on January 21, 1942 to Kirk and Doris (Weese) Griffin in Maysville, MO, and graduated from Stewartsville High School.  Ken served in the Unites States Air Force.

 

On May 19, 1961 he was united in marriage to Patricia Gale Kagay.  After their marriage they lived in California, Illinois, and for 28 years lived in Toledo, Ohio.  In 1999 they retired happily back to Missouri, living in St. Joseph to be near family.

 

Ken started working for Quaker Oats in St. Joseph, MO, and retired as general superintendent from Nabisco in Toledo, OH.  He was a national competitor in trap shooting and was also a golfer, fisherman, carpenter and landscaper.  Ken loved spending time at the lake, being with family and sharing stories.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Ken is survived by his wife Patricia; daughter Valeri Jones and husband Rick; grandsons Jesse Jones and Wyatt Jones and wife Samantha; brothers and sisters, Norma (Bobby) Cook, Betty Sue Keller, Dale (Judy) Griffin, Jerry (Beverlie) Griffin, Gregg (Andrea) Griffin, Diane (Ray) Weineke; several beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Graveside services for family and those considered as such will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 26th at Clarksdale Cemetery. 

Family and friends are invited to gather from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Stewartsville.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or to plant a tree in Ken’s memory.

    Very sorry to hear of your loss. Think of Ken and Patty all the time. Ken was a wonderful person, who will truly be missed. Please know your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

    I had known Ken since junior high school years. We had many fun times together. He was truly a good man. He was a loving husband and father. My prayers go out to Patty and all his family. He will be missed.
