In Remembrance Of
Kathyrn Snyder
Kathryn Louise Snyder (Coulter), 85, of Smithville, MO went to be the Lord on Monday, October 3, 2022. She had been in the care of NorthCare Hospice House when she passed peacefully. Kathryn was born March 20, 1937 in Henry County, Missouri to Cecil Coulter and Elma Wirsig. She was raised in Shawnee Mound attending High School in Clinton, Missouri. After graduating she and her friends moved to Kansas City to begin their working careers.
In 1956 she met Paul Snyder and they were united in marriage on January 12, 1957. Kathryn worked for a major banking institute in Kansas City. After the birth of their first child, Steven Paul, Kathryn became a full-time housewife and mom. Four years later they would welcome their second child, Lisa Rachell. They would make their permanent home in Smithville in 1971.
Kathryn and Paul enjoyed being members of the KC Rock Club traveling the country in search of gemstones and unique rocks. Paul would then turn them into something truly special. They also enjoyed travels abroad and especially their trip to Israel. Kathryn loved animals. In her youth she had horses, dogs, cats and birds and would continue having various animals later in life.
Most of all, Kathryn enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, Leslie and Lauren, great granddaughter, Ava and great grandson, Hampton. She always looked forward to their visits and they would share stories of when “Grandma and Grandpa” were younger, their traveling journeys and life in general. Although she did not get to spend as much time with her step-grandchildren and step-great grandsons she cherished the time she did get to spend with them.
Kathryn accepted Christ as her savior as a child. She was a member of Mt. Olivet Christian Church. For several years she was Treasurer and served on the Board. She was the church President of CWF (Christian Women’s Fellowship) through September 2022. She was active in mission ministry of the church, as well as volunteering during Vacation Bible School and various hospitality events.
Kathryn was proceeded in death by her mother, Elma Wirsig Coulter in 1971, her father, Cecil Coulter in 1994, her step-mother, Anna May Pickering Coulter in 2003, her brother-in-law, Larry Hebert in 2004, her sister, Doris Hebert in 2016 and her husband, Paul Snyder in 2020. She is survived by her son, Steven and wife Marilyn, her daughter, Lisa and husband Wayne, her brother Melvin and wife Lorraine, granddaughter Leslie Meier, husband Rick and great granddaughter, Ava, granddaughter Lauren Middleton, husband Chad and great grandson, Hampton. My condolences to the Snyder family. Kathryn was a special lady. We spent many years in VBS when my grandparents were still living and attended church each week. She always had a smile. May you find comfort knowing she is with Jesus now. May God provide comfort and peace during this difficult time.
