Kathleen Dodson

Kathleen Dodson, 92 of Smithville, MO passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014.

 

She was born on August 14, 1921 to Orvel and Daisy O. (Bywaters) Shafer in Edgerton, MO where she grew up and attended school.

 

On August 6, 1937 she was united in marriage to R.W. Dodson.  After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.  R.W. passed away on February 17, 1983.

 

Kathleen was a homemaker and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

 

She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Marion L. Shafer, Elmer Lee Shafer and Orvel Eugene “Peanie” Shafer.

 

Kathleen is survived by her son Gary Dodson and wife Luanne; grandchildren Donald L. Dodson and wife Jennifer and Kimberly G. Thoma and husband Jeffrey; five great-grandchildren Brennan, Alyssa, Samantha, Henry and Charlie; sister Virginia Shafer; brother Dale Shafer; special friend Kenneth Ramey; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

 

Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 9^th with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service all at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.

 

Burial:  Ridgely Cemetery
