Katherine Yates

Katherine Yates, 93, of Smithville, MO passed away, November 29, 2021.

She was born on September 7, 1928 to Charles Henry and Ruth Nona (Wade) Renfro in Smithville, Mo. where she grew up and graduated from Smithville High School.

On March 22, 1953 she was united in marriage to Marion Yates. After their marriage they lived in Platte County west of Smithville, and in 1961 they moved to Smithville where they made their home. Her husband, Marion, preceded her in death on January 26, 2009.

Katie worked for Smithville Pharmacy for many years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Smithville, and a member of the Rebecca Lodge #286 in Smithville for over 60 years. She was also a charter member of the Smithville American Legion Auxiliary.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Ralph Renfro.

Katie is survived by her children, Anne Salsbury; Gregg (Mindy) Yates, Judy (Rick) Stone, Vickie (Roger) Walker and Chris (Rebecca) Yates; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Samantha Ulmer; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, with visitation one hour prior.

Burial: Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely, MO.
