Katherine Lea Batson

Katherine Lea Batson, 60, St. Joseph, MO, passed away on July 11 at her daughter’s home after being diagnosed with lung cancer on May 2, 2012.

She was born on September 12, 1951 to Austin Enos and Mary Angeline (Canady) Merritt in Indiana, Pennsylvania.

Katherine lived in St. Joseph for over 30 years, where she made her home with her lifelong companion, Terrance and her precious Chihuahua, Priscella.. Together they enjoyed traveling and sailing. Her hobby was impulsive buying from infomercials and magazines. She also enjoyed garage sales and spending time with family especially at Christmas.

She worked at the KCI Airport until her first battle with colon cancer in 1992.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, father, and brothers, Timothy and Stephen.

Survivors include Terrance Bruce partner of 29 years; mother Mary (Loyd) Russell, brother Michael (Shirley) Merritt, son Gene (Melissa) Batson, daughter Angela (Martin) Metoyer, grandsons Brandon Lawrence, David (Jennifer) Jeanneret & Dalton Jeanneret and granddaughter Amanda Coyle.

Visitation: 4:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14^th with Funeral Service at 6:00 p.m. at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
