June Russell

Phyllis June Russell passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Gower Convalescent Center after losing a valiant fight with cancer.

 

She was born on June 4, 1930 near Canton, Oklahoma to Marvin Roy and Mary Odessa (Goodman) Fountain.

 

June graduated from Southard High School in 1948 and then attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University.  She would later become a beautician and then worked for and retired from Sears. 

 

She married Eldon Ray DeMoss in 1950 and to this union three sons were born.  After he passed away June moved to Muskogee and married Gene Leach.  After twenty years of marriage he also preceded her in death.  In 1997, she met and married Bill Russell and moved to Missouri.

 

June was a believer in her Savior, Jesus Christ, and attended Bethany Christian Church.  She belonged to the  Gower American Legion Auxilary #393 and had a great appreciation for their precepts.  She was a dedicated mother and grandmother by whom she will be greatly missed.

 

She was preceded in death by her son Donald Gene DeMoss, her parents, granddaughter and great-grandson.

 

She is survived by her husband, Bill; sons, Darrel Dean DeMoss and Dennis Ray (Sherry) DeMoss; step-daughters, Jody Hamilton, Gayle Larson, and Becky (Monty) Yeager; sisters, Louise Fisher, Leola (Weldon) Allen; brothers, Bill (Jan) Fountain, Bob (Sarah) Fountain, Roy (Linda) Fountain, and Keith Fountain; sixteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

 

Memorial Service:  2:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19th at First Baptist Church in Gower.

Inurnment:  2:00 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, OK.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gower American Legion Auxilary #393.

    June was a great lady and good friend to my Dad, Elmer Gene Robison, and my Uncle, Wendell Robison! Keith was in my class and we graduated in 1966. My mother, Georgia really enjoyed June. Our prayers are with all of the family!
