June E. (Cook) Campbell
June E. Campbell, 85, of St. Joseph, formerly of Edgerton, MO, passed away, Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
She was born on a farm north of Edgerton on October 22, 1924. June moved to Edgerton when she was 5 and attended the Edgerton School District.
June worked for Cook Paint and Varnish Company, the Army Air Force in North Kansas City, and Quaker Oats in St. Joseph before attending Casters Beauty School in 1957. She owned and operated her own shop in Edgerton.
June joined the United Methodist Church in Edgerton and later moved to St. Joseph where she became a member of the Community Christian Church.
She married Raymond W. Campbell in Troy, Kansas on December 5, 1945. After their marriage they lived in Edgerton, where they made their home, and were blessed with a son, Ronald. In 1993 they moved to St. Joseph. Her husband, Raymond, passed away February 20, 1999. Her joy was her grandsons, Travis, Aaron, and Devon, as well as her great-grandchildren, Kaden and Adam.
June was also preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Cecil (Culp) Cook, and sister, Beatrice Pait, nieces, Sandra Crouch and Phyllis Short, nephew, Robert Cook.
She is survived by one son, Ronald and wife, Peggy; grandsons, Travis, of Smithville, Aaron (Jackie), Excelsior Springs, and Devon, St. Joseph; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Smithville and Adam, Excelsior Springs; brother, Bill D. (Zelma) Cook, Dearborn; nieces, Patricia (Jim) Herrick, Camdenton, and Annette Langley, Dearborn; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 22nd at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Community Christian Church, at 22nd Street and Mason Rd, St. Joseph.
Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Community of Christian Church, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
