JUANITA STUBBS

Juanita Stubbs, 94, of Smithville, MO, went to be with the Lord at a Kansas City Hospital on Thursday, October 19, 2006. She had recently made a profession of faith.

Juanita Spicer Faubion Stubbs was born on July 14, 1912 to John E. Spicer and Anne Pearl (Blake) Spicer near Warrensburg, MO. Juanita graduated from Smithville High School.

On July 18, 1930 she married Jim Faubion who preceded her in death on March 21, 1959. On March 24, 1967 she married Elmer Stubbs, who passed away December 3, 1983.

Juanita was employed for over 40 years outside her home at Crawford Manufacturing Company and Western Auto in Kansas City.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 51 years. Her primary Chapter was Eastern Star #369, Kansas City North (Barry) where she was Worthy Matron in 1965, Grand Representative to Kentucky in 1975, District Deputy Grand Matron of the 21st District in 1979, and a member of the Grand Representatives Club for the State of Missouri, and treasurer for many years. Juanita was a dual member of the Adelphi Chapter of Eastern Star #389 in Edgerton where she was Star Point Esther. Other memberships include, the Social Order of the Beauceant in Liberty, the Rebekah Fidelity Lodge #286 in Smithville, and a former membership in the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Leavenworth, Kansas, where she was a member of the drill team which performed at several functions. Juanita loved to travel and had been to every state except Alaska and Hawaii. She enjoyed cooking and had a collection of cookbooks.

After her father’s death her mother married Robert C. Lizar. Juanita joined his loving children, Raymond Lizar of Weatherby, MO, Eva Powell of Chanute, KS, and Iva Zemmes of Smithville, MO, all who preceded her in death. Two step-sisters survive, Mildred Cox, Drexel, MO, and Roberta Gates and husband, Frank of Craig, MO.

She is also survived by step-son, Walt Stubbs and wife, Marge of Edgerton, MO; step-daughter, Judy Shaffner of Las Cruces, NM; nephew and overseer Ralph Stubbs, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Edgerton, MO; caretaker, Rosie Goodlet of Dearborn, MO; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 22nd at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, MO, with a public Eastern Star Service following at 6:00 p.m.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial at Second Creek Cemetery.
