Joyce Waters

Joyce Waters, 88, of Kansas City, MO formerly of Gower, MO passed away, Friday, January 25, 2019.

She was born on April 22, 1930 to Roland William and Alma Rose (Friza) Peppin in Burlington, Vermont. Joyce grew up in Burlington and graduated from Windham High School in 1948. She then attended Bay Path Junior College.

In 1953 she married Jack Mathieson. They had two children, Deborah and David. On June 8, 1968 she was united in marriage to Leslie Waters. After their marriage they lived in Gower where they owned and operated Waters Hardware Store for many years. They then returned to Kansas City. Her husband, Leslie, preceded her in death April 21, 2009.

Joyce worked at the State Hospital in St. Joseph, MO and also worked at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO as an EEG Technician.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Jack, a younger brother, and her daughter, Deborah Lundberg.

Joyce is survived by her son, David Mathieson; step-children, Debbie Bollinger and Cynthia Waters; grandchildren, Sarah, Aaron, Emily, Kealey; two step-grandchildren, Blake and Morgan; several great-grandchildren; brother James (Joyce) Peppin; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 1st at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Inurnment: Allen Cemetery, Gower, MO.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
