Joyce Ann (Kimbel) Johnson

Joyce Ann (Kimbel) Johnson was born August 26, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the daughter of Joan Lindsey. She was raised in Cape Girardeau, Missouri as Joyce Ann Hamilton by parents, Reva and Clyde Hamilton. Joyce left the comfort of her home in Jefferson City, Missouri and entered into the arms of her Lord on January 31, 2019 at the age of 77.

On April 7, 1961 Joyce married the love of her life, Billy L. Kimbel. This blessed union nurtured three daughters. Rebecca, Kimberly and LeAnn.

Joyce served the Lord alongside her husband Bill in the ministry as an active Pastor’s wife of several churches around the country until he retired in 2005. She also helped support their family by working at various retail stores and hospitals for many years. In November of 2009 she retired from her job as a switchboard operator at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, KS to care for her husband who had Alzheimer’s. They moved to Platte City, Missouri at that time. 

After the loss of her husband, Joyce met and was blessed to fall in love with Michael “Mick” Johnson. They married on May 5, 2014 in Jefferson City, Missouri where they cherished their life and retirement together until her death.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Rex Hamilton and her loving husband of 52 years, Bill. 

Those left here to cherish her memory are her husband, Mick Johnson, daughters; Rebecca Geister and husband Frank, Kimberly Praiswater and husband Michael, LeAnn White and husband Dave; 9 grandchildren; Shannon Sorenson and husband John, Christopher Biggs, Chuck Darrow, Anastasia Keys and husband Aaron, Shane Praiswater and wife Melissa, Zachary Praiswater and wife Betsy, Amanda Miller and husband Brett, Jessica Gartrell and husband Greg, and Jacob Fechner; 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends whose life’s she has touched along the way.

May God comfort those who mourn her loss.

Celebration of Life Service: 3:00 p.m. with visitation from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service Saturday, February 9th at Christ Chapel, 15275 Hwy 92, Platte City, MO Inurnment: Platte City Cemetery
