Joy Smith

Joy Smith, 85, of Riverside, MO passed away, April 27, 2024.

She was born on February 22, 1939 in Des Moines, IA. She grew up in Ogden, Iowa where graduated high school. Joy then graduated from Iowa State University.

Joy lived in Toledo, Ohio where she raised her son and moved to Kansas City 25 years ago, where she made her home. She was a buyer for Macy’s for over 20 years and was later a drug and alcohol counselor for many years.

Joy was a member of the Antioch Bible Baptist Church. Joy and her husband, Bill Smith, were very active in the Ararat Shrine Temple.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Maxine Gunion; husbands, Bill Paradise and Bill Smith; and her son, Duff Paradise.

Joy is survived by her sister, Jinny Kyle; brother, Clark (Robin) Gunion; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 7th at Antioch Bible Baptist in Gladstone, MO with visitation one hour prior to the service.
