Josie Irene (Dolbow) Roberts

 

Josie Irene Roberts, 85, of Edgerton, MO, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010 at her home.

She was born on November 19, 1924 to Thomas Macon and Ethel Alma (Decker) Dolbow in Kansas City, MO. She grew up in Versailles, MO where she attended school.

Irene raised her five children on her own and they all survived, including her. On June 11, 1960 she was united in marriage to Charles William Roberts. After their marriage they lived in Edgerton where they made their home.

Irene was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the Edgerton Chamber of Commerce, and the Pioneer Days Committee. She was the City of Edgerton Tax Collector for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Ethel Ann “Butch” Spiegelhalter; two brothers, Bill Dolbow and Bud Dolbow; and grandson, Charles Barnett.

Irene is survived by husband, Charlie Bill of the home, children, Irene Pierson and husband, Al, Sharron Pettite, Atina Barnett and husband, Bobby, Seth “Bob” Sessions and Leonard A. Sessions; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 3rd at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton.

Burial: Reed Cemetery, Trimble, MO

Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
