John Rowland
JOHN ROWLAND
John Rowland, 89, of Savannah, Mo., passed away, Monday, October 31, 2005 at his home.
He was born on November 6, 1915 to R. Ernest and Willie Mae (Lawrence) Rowland in Galena, Mo. John served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
On May 20, 1977 he was united in marriage to Berniece ?B? Hendrix. After their marriage they lived in Claycomo, Albany, and in 1995 moved to Savannah where they made their home.
John was a heavy duty truck mechanic for Bill Allen Chevrolet in Kansas City, Mo., and Felds Chevrolet in Kansas City, Ks., and later was in maintenance for a mobile park in Claycomo.
He was a member of the Baptist faith. John was a lifetime member of the VFW in Kansas City and member and past president of the Eagles Lodge in Indiana and member of the Eagles Lodge in St. Joseph. John also attended the Gower Goodtimers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Archer, Frank, Clyde, and Jack Rowland, and two sisters, Ada Rowland and Bessie Sharp.
John is survived by his wife, B, of the home, children, Judy Roettgen, Topeka, KS, Ronald Rowland, Lawrence, KS, Cindy Prouty, Mattawan, MI, Carl Rowland, Vicksburg, MI, Debbie , Sue Dingman, Michigan City, IN, Elaine Hettings, Buffalo, MI, Ronald Anderson, St. Joseph, MO, and Barbara Hoyt, Savannah, MO, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 4th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, Mo., with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, Mo.
Donations may be made to the Asera Care Hospice.
