John Owen Kent

John Owen Kent, 66, of Lathrop, MO, passed away, Thursday, November 8, 2012.

He was born on February 27, 1946 to John Reynolds and Evelyn (Roe) Kent in St. Joseph, MO. He grew up in Denver, CO where he graduated from Almeda High School. John then served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

On May 9, 1981 he was united in marriage to Peggy Taylor in St. Joseph. After their marriage they lived in Plattsburg, Lawson, and Lathrop.

John worked for the Marine Corp Finance Center, Social Security Administration, and retired from the Department of Agriculture. He also served as a Police Officer and was a lifetime member of the VFW both in Lawson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

John is survived by his wife, Peggy, of the home; daughter, Melissa Patterson and husband Daniel, New Orleans, LA; granddaughter, Zoey; two brothers, James Kent and wife Michelle, and Kevin Kent and wife Sherri; his beloved companions, Cole, Tippy, Abbey, Casey and Carmel; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 12^th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Gower with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial: Perrin Cemetery, Plattsburg, MO.
