John Ledford

John William Ledford, 77, of Kansas City, MO passed away June 10, 2024.

He was born on June 24, 1946, to William Wallace Ledford, Sr., and Maxine Elizabeth (McKinely) Ledford in Kansas City, MO. In 1964 he graduated from Park Hill High School. 

John was united in marriage to Norma Gene Clark in 1963. After their marriage they lived in Platte County where they raised their family and made their home. John started his career at Missouri Pacific Railroad which later became Union Pacific Railroad where he retired in 2008.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #120, the Moila Shriners in St. Joseph, MO and he was a member of the Holiday Rambler RV Club for over 40 years. John enjoyed being outdoors, which included gardening, hunting, fishing, riding mules and he was an avid animal lover. John was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa and loved spending time with his family. 

John was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Maxine Ledford, his brother Billy Ledford and his daughter Lori Simmons. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma Ledford; his son Dan Ledford and wife Paula; grandchildren Cari Klein and husband Justin, Sara Drennan and husband Tyler, Amie Ledford, and Kayla Vaughan and husband Colin; great-grandchildren Taylor, Tristin, Declyn, and Josie; other relatives and many friends. 

Masonic Service at 6:00 p.m. with Visitation following until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.

Burial: Hampton Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
