In Remembrance Of

John Delever Routh, Jr.

John D. Routh, Jr., 90, of Smithville, MO, formerly of Easton, MO, passed away Saturday April 26, 2014.

 

He was born on July 14, 1923 to John Delever, Sr. and Iva Savannah (Kennedy) Routh in Stockton, MO.  John grew up and attended school in Plattsburg, MO.  He then served his country in the US Marine Corps during WWII as a Sergeant in the 81 MM Mortar Association, 2nd BN 7th Marines, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division.  J.D. served in the South Pacific and received the Purple Heart and 4 Campaign Stars.   

 

On April 16, 1949 he was united in marriage to Billie C. Jennings.  After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph, MO and later moved to Easton, MO where they made their home.  In 2013 they moved to Smithville.

 

J.D. worked for Goetz/ Pearl Brewing Company in St. Joseph.  He then went into business with his brother until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, coon hunting in his younger years and fishing.  J.D. loved being with his family and friends and especially being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Gary Routh and Robert Routh; two grandsons, Niko John Waschlowski and Ben Waschlowski; a sister Catherine Greenstreet; brothers Charles Routh, and Jesse Routh.

 

J. D. is survived by his wife Billie Routh; daughters Janice Hawkins and husband Dale, Smithville, MO and Kathryn Tochterman and husband Karl, Germany; grandchildren, Carmen Weber and husband Bob, Heather Johnson, Chad Hawkins and wife Sarah, Dustin Hawkins and wife Laura, Micha Waschlowski; great-grandchildren Owen, Simon, and Teagan Weber, Ashton, Katherine and Spencer Hawkins, Brooklyn Hawkins and Emma and Ellie Johnson and their father Danny Johnson; brothers and sisters, Marie Shea, Donnie Routh and wife Rose, and Virginia Routh; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Graveside Services with Military Honors:  11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 29th at Allen Cemetery, Gower.

Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
