John Adams

John A Adams (88) of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on December 14th, 2024.

John was born on April 16th, 1936, on a farm near Wilcox, Missouri. He was one of five children born to George Thomas and Al Ena Adams. John attended elementary school at Shell Grove and high school at Horace Mann on the campus of NWMS University where he graduated in 1954. In 1957 John entered the Air Force and studied jet engines. While in the Air Force he did run ups on the engines. In May of 1961 he was discharged.

On June 25th, 1961, he married the love of his life Mary Jane Bridgewater. They were married for 63 years. John worked for Spring Corp in Marshalltown, IA, Kansas City, MO, and Richardson, TX. He finally settled down with his family in Kansas City and worked at Industrial Spring Corporation in Riverside, Missouri for 25 years. He enjoyed square dancing, golf, snow skiing, and travel.

John is proceeded in death by his parents and siblings: George Thomas, Dorotha, Jackson and Blanche.

He will be greatly missed and is survived by his wife Mary Jane and his children, John (Jay) (Brenda) Adams, Marcy (Tim) Wiswell, Eric Adams (Sue Legacie), and Donna (Shelby) Laborde. Grandchildren: Kristen (Aaron) Rhodes, Lauren (Ryley) Drennen, Cassidy (Tanner) Lowrey, James (Aubrey) Hooten, Kelby (Lance) Rucker, Brice (Lisa) Wiswell, Codie Wiswell (Sky Lux), Krystal (Shawn) Desselles, Kerry (Emily) Dupius. John was blessed with 20 great grandchildren and has two more due this year.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 25th, 2025, at Barry Christian Church. Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm. The celebration will begin at noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Barry Christian Church (1500 NW Barry Road, Kansas City, MO 64155).

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the North Kansas City Hospital Staff and VNA Hospice for the wonderful care they provided John.
