Jim Owen

James Owen, 90, of Smithville, MO passed away, December 9, 2021.

He was born on January 26, 1931 to Harold B. and Vada Elizabeth (Stockton) Owen in Maysville, MO. Jim grew up in Maysville and graduated from Maysville High School in 1950.

On May 31, 1951 he was united in marriage to Shirley Lawless. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home. His wife, Shirley, passed away, October 12, 2019.

Jim worked for Ford Motor Company for 35 years. He was a member of the United Auto Workers. Jim was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Smithville, where he served on the church board and was a Deacon. Jim coached little league baseball for several years. He enjoyed carpentry work and repairing homes.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and two sisters; and his daughter, Karry Lyn Owen.

James is survived by his sons, Michael (Linda) Owen, JD (Cindy) Owen, Glen (Irene) Owen, and Randy (Mari) Owen; grandchildren, Michael Lee (Aubrie) Owen, Emily (Jeffrey) English, Matthew Daniel (Michelle) Owen, Luke James (Emily) Owen, Stephen Jacob (Ashley) Owen, Caleb Joshua (Ali) Owen, Olivia Owen, Monica Owen, Nick (Jenny) McCutcheon, and Edward James Owen; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Carl (June) Owen; sister, Beulah Mills; brother-in-law, Keith Meek; several nieces and nephews, other relatives many friends.

Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 15th at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Maysville.

Donations may be made to the church, cemetery or Albert and Emma Owen Scholarship Trust.
