JIM CRIST

Jim R. Crist, 66, of Stover, MO, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2005 at his daughter, Rochelle Whatley?s home in St. Joseph, MO.

He was born on June 11, 1939 in Angola, IN, where he grew up and later moved to Quinter KS, where he graduated from Quinter High School. After his graduation he moved to St. Joseph, MO.

On June 22, 1965 he was united in marriage to Beverly G. Silvey in Coldwater, MI. After their marriage they live in St. Joseph until 1991 when they retired to their lake home in Stover, MO.

Jim was a truck driver for Carnation in St. Joseph, as well as owning and operating his own independent trucking company.

He was a member of Teamster Union Local #460 that is now merged with Teamster Union Local #955.

After his retirement, Jim enjoyed his lake home where he ingaged in various activities. He loved helping others with construction and lawn mowing projects. He also enjoyed spending time on the lake with family and friends where he loved telling jokes around the campfire.

Jim was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Courtney Noll, his mother and father-in-law, Roy and Helen Silvey, his brother-in-law, Arnold Silvey, a niece Jonna Marie Riley, and a great-nephew, Jeremy Riley.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of the home, his children, Jimmy Dean Crist, Arkansas, Calvin Crist, Kansas City, MO, Rochelle Whatley, Kevin Crist, Albert Crist, Willa Crist and honorary child, Mike McClain all of St. Joseph, MO, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his parents, D.A. and Carol Crist, and brothers Danny and Kevin Crist, all of Quinter, KS and Dean Silvey, St. Joseph, and brothers-in-law Gary Silvey, Stover, MO, and John Silvey, St. Joseph, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Jim was a very kind, generous, and loving person, always putting others before himself and will be greatly missed by all including, his loyal friends, Bud, Darrell, Ruth, Bob and Don.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2nd at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower
Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower
Visitation: 11:00-1:00 two hours prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flower donation may be made to the family care of Hixson-Klein Funeral Home.
