Jewell Dean Barlow
Jewell Dean Barlow, 77 of Dearborn, MO, passed away September 16, 2009 at his home.
He was born on September 22, 1931 to Afton Elihu and Josephine Alice (Street) Barlow in Davies County, MO. Jewell graduated from Gallatin High School in 1949. He then attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO where he received his teaching certificate. Jewell went on to teach at McClunge Grade School for four years and then he served his country in United States Army. Jewell was a farmer and worked for various insurance companies.
On May 20, 1989 he was united in marriage to Janet Mae (Swedberg) Babcock. After their marriage they lived in rural Dearborn where they made their home.
Jewell was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he was a prayer leader.
Jewell was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Charles S. Barlow and granddaughter, Holly M. Guillory.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, of the home; son, Charles Barlow, Dearborn; daughter, Vallie Guillory and husband, Earl, Independence, MO; sister, Betty Jo Eads and husband, Doc, Jamesport, MO; niece, Kelly Nickles and husband, Larry, Holt, MO; step-sons, Nate Babcock, Marshall, MO; David Babcock, Lee’s Summit, MO, Mark Babcock and wife, Michelle, Overland Park, KS; step-daughters, Kris Babcock, Black Forrest, CO and Kim Hills, Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Hillaree, Thomas and Matthew Barlow, Hannah and Jenna Guillory, Brian Hills, Lauren Marble, Ryan and Lauren Babcock, Alexandria Thomas, and Lindsey Babcock; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Archuleta; great-nieces and nephews, Dale, Samantha and Rachel Nickles, former wife, Virginia Baxter, Lawson, MO; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 20th at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Edgerton with visitation from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 21st at the Prairie Valley Cemetery, Gallatin, MO
The family suggests donations to Mt. Zion Baptist Church or Three Rivers Hospice.
