Jewell C. “Bill” Schuster, Jr.

 

Jewell C. “Bill” Schuster, Jr., 86, of Gower, MO went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 29, 2010.

He was born on February 13, 1924 to Jewell C. and Bertha Ann (Poage) Schuster, east of Gower in rural Clinton County Missouri. He attended school at Mt. Hope and Gower High School. He served in the US Army during WWII in the 777th tank battalion, 28th Division under General George S. Patton. He was a member of the American Legion Post #393 and the First Baptist Church of Gower.

On May 14, 1955 he was united in marriage to Maxine Moore who survives of the home. He was a life long resident of Gower and farmed near there for over 68 years. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Nick Spaeth.

Bill was a founding member of the Gower Tractor Pull Association and the Gower Volunteer Fire Department. He was also awarded the East Buchanan FFA Outstanding Farmer of the Year Award.

In addition to his wife, he celebrated life with three daughters, Carol Uzunoglu Taylor and husband, Andy, Termo, CA, Kathie Brown and husband, John, Kansas City, Lisa Lanning and husband, Joe, Gower; one son, Steven C. Schuster and wife, Terri, Gower. Additional survivors, brother Harold “Shorty” Schuster and wife, Dorothy; sister Louise Spaeth, all of Gower, in addition to 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 2, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Pastor John Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m.-2:00p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Internment will be at Allen Cemetery.

    I am sorry to hear about your loss. We lost our Dad in January and my Uncle in April (Eldon Brinton) and my brother Harry Brinton in August. Carol and I used to be good friends. If Carol gets to come she can contact me at 816-651-4998.
