Jessie Virginia (VanPool) Henderson

Jessie Virginia Henderson, 94 of Smithville, MO passed away, Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Golden Living Center.

 

She was born on September 30, 1919 to Jesse and Grace (Grizzell) VanPool in Dunbar, NE.  Virginia grew up and graduated from high school in Kansas City, MO and later attended Kansas City Art Institute.   

 

On April 9, 1939 she was united in marriage to Clell Henderson.  After their marriage they lived in Kansas City and later moved to Ectonville, MO where they made their home.  Her husband, Clell, passed away, February 18, 1981.

 

Virginia worked for the Kanas City Star where she drew fashion design ads and also worked for Macy’s Department Store.  She loved art, china painting, and ballroom dancing.  Virginia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

 

She was an active member of the Mt. Olivet Christian Church. 

 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, step-father Herb Caskey, infant daughter Wanda Elaine, brother Bill VanPool and sister Wanda DeGood.

 

Virginia is survived by her children, Donna Mauzey and husband Joe, Russ Henderson and wife Cathy, Bonnie Easley and husband Dick, Frank Henderson and wife Barbara, and Virginia Mauzey and husband Jim; grandchildren, Rick, Debbie, Joleen, Julie, Jill, Jennifer Jo, Brooke, Blake, Jennifer, Jason, David, Shannon, Patrick, Jeremy, Sim, Connie and Jeff; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral Services:  11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 11th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. one hour prior to the service.

Burial:  Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Smithville.

Donations may be made to Mt. Olivet Christian Church.
