In Remembrance Of

Jerry R. Pancake

JERRY R. PANCAKE

Jerry Richard Pancake, 66, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 9, 2005. He was surrounded by family and dear friends.

Jerry was born on November 3, 1938, and lived in Platte County his entire life. He graduated from Smithville High School and attended college at the University of Missouri in Columbia and Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.

Jerry was a Mason and a highly respected member of the community. In the late 60?s he went to work for Kenworth Truck where he was employed for twenty-six years. Shortly after Kenworth in Kansas City closed down, he went to work as a sheet metal mechanic for Trans World Airlines. He was employed there for 13 years until his retirement in January 2001. Jerry also operated a Hereford cattle business for most of his life, working the hours of a mechanic and a farmer to ensure his family was well provided for. Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent many hours working with his bird dogs over the years. He was also an avid sports fan. His daughters graduated from Platte County High School, and Jerry could always be seen in the stands supporting the Pirates, whose successes in football and basketball he followed closely until his death. Jerry was a beloved father, son, and brother whose generous nature and great sense of humor are evidenced by the countless friends who loved and respected him.

Jerry?s most difficult trial was the passing of his father, Clifton A. Pancake, in 1986.

He is survived by his mother, Inez (Anders) Pancake, his sisters, Shirley Wells and Judy Weers, and his daughters, Lisa Pancake and Janice Helm, all of Kansas City, as well as several nieces and nephews.
